Power toggle when upgrading firmware?

  • I have a Shelly Plug here and want to update the firmware (from 20191018-113038/master@b12f42e3 to 20201228-092942/v1.9.3@ad2bb4e3).

Unfortunately I have some critical infrastructure connected to it, so I don't want to turn it off/on =O

If I set the Power on default mode to "Restore Last Mode", will it powercycle during the firmware upgrade?

I only have one of those so I cannot test it elsewhere

I could test with a Plug S or a Shelly 1, but its not the same I guess...

    Thx,

    Kai

  • Yeah well, I tested with a Plug S:

    - set Plug S to "on"

    - set power on default mode to "Restore Last Mode"

    - Hit "Reset device"

    - Plug S stays on during boot

    Now for the firmware-upgrade:

    - set Plug S to "on"

    - set power on default mode to "Restore Last Mode"

    - Hit "Upgrade firmware"

    - Click! Plug S shuts off during boot ;(

Oh my, I now need to go shut down some things for that upgrade...

  • Final bit of information:

I upgraded the Shelly Plug to 1.9.3 and surprise: while the Plug S cycles the relay when upgrading

the firmware, the Shell Plug (without the S) doesn't do it. So it would have been save to just do it
