Help setting up underfloor heating with smart thermostats (using Shelly 2.5 & window door sensors)

  • Hi,

New to Shelly home, but I am wanting to do the below setup and looking for any suggestions/advice:

I have underfloor heating (about 14 zones)

I will control (turn them on and off) using: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/…tle_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am looking to control these using:

Shelly 2.5 to turn them on and off

The Shelly Door/window temperature sensors as a trigger.

I suspect I would be able to figure out how to do the above, however...

How would I connect this to a smart thermostat so control could be done through the thermostat and automation?

Is there anything I should be aware of/is the a bad plan?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi pkinski,

I have to do something like that too,

I would not use shelly2.5 for that. (7 wireless network connections for 14 actuators is open path to trouble)

I don't know if you know this guy https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC75HTMhqVZs0sPOMTMQqI9g

He develop an Arduino board named EtherUno with built in ethernet and i2C (you can chain as many relays you want). He know very well home assistant and every protocol in the middle.

In my exchange with him he would be happy to do a tutorial for UFH.

I do have 11+4 actuators similar to yours (230V Normally open) , and a cat 5 in waiting. need to bring power around ... (unfortunately poe is not an option for actuators)

Shelly 1PM to kick start the boiler pump with

Temperature Sensor AddOn for Shelly 1/1PM + 2xDS18B20

one sensor on each start/return pipe.

and some wifi thermostats. All managed with Home assistant.

let join force together if you wish ...
